Hosted by 4H Robotics League

Come to the meeting where we will discuss forming the very first ASL Lego Robotics Club in the Southern Utah region!   This club will be part of the 4H Robotics League.

The usual expense of starting up such a club, well over $1,000 worth, has been fully sponsored!  Participants will only need to pay a small fee for 4H registration.

If you're interested but want to know more, here are a few notes:

  • AGE LIMIT: 8 to 14 years old - older teen or college student leaders may volunteer if they wish.

  • We will need a minimum of 2-3 adults to lead the club.

  • The lego kit and all supplies will be provided / sponsored, we just need the kids and the adult leaders.

  • 4H membership registration for both the children and adult leaders will be required, with a $10 (annual) fee.  The membership will apply to any other 4H activities.

  • Joining 4H is a wonderful opportunity for children and increases their chances of getting into college, winning scholarships, and much more!  See the link below to learn more about 4H in general.

  • The club is open to anyone who is or wants to become fluent in ASL.

Recommended: 8-9 year olds should be mature and able to participate in a team setting.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Having the club actually form depends on there being enough participants.  Please help spread the word by inviting anyone you know who is deaf, has deaf children, or loves ASL, and has children who may be interested in joining.

This has been made possible thanks to the collaborative efforts of USU (Utah State University), 4H Club, ASL Families, and SUDHHP (Southern Utah Deaf & Hard of Hearing Programs).

Past Robotics Events

Here is an example of how it's been done in Iowa.

The 2010 Bratney Companies Iowa 4-H Robotics Challenge on August 15, at the Iowa State Fair was a smash hit! Eight teams with a total of 34 members were challenged to design two completely separate robots in real time. Check out this video about the event produced by youth!

Find out what a 4-H Robotics Challenge is like by checking out the highlights of the event held at the Iowa 4-H Foundation's 60th Anniversary Gala.
